How to use the converter
1. Select and open your Rich Text Format Screenplay
2. The converter will analyse the script format and attempt to identify the type of information
on each line. The results will be color coded..
The key is also displayed at the bottom of the screen.
Read through the script and ensure all parts have been corectly identified. If a part has been
identified incorrectly, click the line and select the correct designation. If the converter just plain
fails to get it right you may have to edit the original RTF file bearing in mind the rules stated
here
You can also delete a scene part if you do not want it imported. In this case the line will be coloured red.
Red lines will be ignored when the new FSC file is saved. Some lines you may wish to delete are title and author
information and END markers. These are handled separately by Practical Scriptwriter and do not need to appear in
the main body of the script. If you accidentally flag a line for deletion you can simply click it again and
select the correct designation.
3. When you are happy with the designations, save the file and reopen it in Practical Scriptwriter.
That's the end of the tutorial. The converter is a work in progress and is in open Beta
release. The intention is to add features over time as new formats appear.
